World's most exclusive hotel for spending a night in London

London is home to the world’s most exclusive hotel. Modeled after a river boat and sitting on a roof above the Thames, this exclusive one-unit hotel can house only two guests a night and will only stay open for a year. Which means less than 800 people will have the privilege of staying at this hotel. A Room for London, as it is called, is a project of Artangel, which commissions offbeat art work, and Living Architecture, an organization started by Alain de Botton. David Kohn Architects designed the hotel with artist Fiona Banner, inspired by the steamer Joseph Conrad captained in the Congo in 1890, a journey echoed in his celebrated novella Heart of Darkness.

The interiors of this one-unit hotel are expected to have all the amenities one can expect including an en-suite double bedroom, a kitchenette, a viewing deck, and, of course, a library. Visitors are invited to “reflect upon what they see and hear during their one night stay,” as well as “logging their thoughts, observing cloud patterns, the character of the river and deeper undercurrents.”
All available nights for July-December 2012 have sold out in few seconds only when bookings opened at 12pm (midday, London GMT) online on 19th January.
