Most Expensive Summer Camps In The United States

During the past decade quite a few summer camps have sprung up across the length and breadth of the entire United States.  Even though there are many summer camps that levy affordable charges, a select few stand out for their exorbitantly high price tag. However the sheer range of recreational activities offered by them guarantee complete value for money for kids who flock to them in droves.

Most camps offer programs that stretch for around eight weeks. The camps try to attract customers by offering a combination of facilities like quality living accommodation, nutritious top grade food and outdoor activities ranging from horseback riding to water skiing. These camps are mostly located in the mountains of the northeast and can charge up to $1000 per week.
The all boys’ camp overlooking the picturesque Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire has billed itself as one of the premier adventure camps in the US. According to a leading news report, it charges up to $10,500 for seven weeks and the average age of the campers ranges between 7 to 15 years. The activities tried out in the camp include outdoor adventure sports like canoeing and kayaking. Fine arts and crafts training along with theater instruction is also imparted.
Another well-known and expensive program is the “Lake Bryn Mawr Camp”, an all-girls summer recreational encampment, situated in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. It reportedly charges $10,700 for an eight week long program. Some of the special events organized by them include a Chocolate banana night and special surprise snacks. However the unique “Miss Firecracker Contest” stands out for its sheer popularity and innovativeness. Their day long schedule starts at 7:30 am and goes on till 9:15 pm. “Camp Mataponi” is another elite all girls’ camp that costs approximately $ 11,000 for a complete summer program. It is a big hit with campers aged between 7 to 15 years. Some of the children friendly programs offered by the camp include a 30 item salad bar for lunch, a weekly theme program consisting of funky princess super hero, “Under the Sea” and “Western Night”.
The 10 week long international riding camp situated in Greenfield Park, New York costs around $ 14,700 and is considered to be one of the most expensive summer camps in recent times. Some of the activities offered by the camp include a trip to New York City and Southampton. A normal day at the camp starts at 7:15am and goes on till 10pm in the night. To serve the dual goals of reducing overcrowding and preserving the exclusive nature of the summer recreational program, not more than 45 campers are enrolled in a single session.
